Giving Saints supporters a voice
The 1885 is designed to operate in a similar way to a Fans’ Advisory Board, providing a structured way for supporters to raise issues, share ideas and contribute to conversations about the future of Southampton Football Club.
The purpose is not simply to organise supporters or provide another place to discuss football. The 1885 exists to represent the views and interests of Saints fans and to help ensure that supporters have a meaningful voice when important issues affecting the fanbase are being considered.
That could include everything from matchday experience and supporter engagement to communication, accessibility, ticketing, atmosphere and wider issues affecting the relationship between the club and its supporters.
Independent supporter representation
At the heart of The 1885 is the belief that supporters should have a constructive and representative voice.
The group provides an opportunity for fans to raise concerns, suggest improvements and discuss the issues that matter to them. Just as importantly, it creates a channel through which those views can be brought together rather than remaining as isolated conversations across social media and online communities.
The aim is to encourage open, constructive dialogue between supporters and the club while always keeping the interests of Southampton fans at the centre.
Why 1885?
The name reflects the history and heritage of Southampton Football Club.
Founded in 1885, Southampton has a long and proud history built not only by players, managers and clubs, but by generations of supporters who have followed the Saints through good times and bad.
The 1885 seeks to build on that tradition by giving today’s supporters a collective voice for the future.
A new online home
The new website will provide a central hub for information about The 1885, its work and how supporters can get involved.
As the group develops, the website will continue to grow, providing updates, information about supporter initiatives and opportunities for Saints fans to have their say.
Whether you have a particular issue you want to raise, an idea for improving the supporter experience, or simply want to understand more about what The 1885 is trying to achieve, the website is the place to start.
